Pringle heads to Grimsby

Charlton Athletic FC striker Martin Pringle has been loaned to Grimsby Town FC for a month.

Charlton Athletic FC striker Martin Pringle has been loaned to first division Grimsby Town FC for a month.

Match experience
The experienced Swedish striker has been plagued with injuries since he first moved to England two-and-a-half years ago. Charlton manager Alan Curbishley is hoping that a spell outside the FA Premiership will help Pringle get match fit. "Pringle needs first-team football at the moment and this is an ideal opportunity for them to give him some match practice," said Curbishley.

Shin problem
Pringle played his first game since returning from injury when he featured for Grimsby in a recent friendly fixture against non-league Dover Athletic FC but has yet to make a senior appearance this season after recovering from a shin problem.

Portuguese experience
The striker joined Charlton in 1999 for €1.3m from SL Benfica. He played in excess of 40 games for the Portuguese side before being sold when he was considered surplus to requirements after coaching changes at the Lisbon club.
International crdentials
Originally a centre-back, Pringle has played up front for the past decade. Capped by Sweden twice, he made his debut in 1995 in a 2-0 victory over Scotland.
