SC Bastia lifted themselves further away from the relegation zone with a 3-1 defeat of FC Girondins de Bordeaux, after FC Lorient rescued a late point in a thrilling 4-4 draw with AC Ajaccio.
Florian Thauvin gave Bastia an early boost with goals on six and 17 minutes – his first in Ligue 1 this term – before Yoan Gouffran brought the visitors back into the encounter on the half-hour. It was not to be Bordeaux's day, though, and Wahbi Khazri made sure of the result with a curled free-kick 11 minutes after the break. Bastia now lie 11th in the standings, three places behind Bordeaux.
Their Corsican neighbours are 14th, meanwhile, after failing to make the most of their strong start at Lorient, Chahir Belghazouani finding the net in the first minute and Adrian Mutu doubling their advantage not long afterwards. Wesley Lautoa halved the deficit for Ajaccio, but they trailed 4-1 down at the break following a pair of Eduardo goals.
Lorient's fightback began immediately after the restart courtesy of Jérémie Aliadière, and the same man made it 4-3 with 11 minutes remaining. Aliadière's fellow former Arsenal FC forward Gilles Sunu grabbed the equaliser deep in added time. Elsewhere, the day's late game between Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais has been postponed due to high winds.
