Article body
FC Dinamo Tbilisi have banned last season’s top scorer Robert Zirakishvili for disciplinary offences.
Unhappy parting
Zirakishvili, who scored 21 goals in the Georgian Premier League last season, parted company with the team on the way to their pre-season training camp in Cyprus and returned to Tbilisi. According to FC Lokomotiv Tbilisi coach Kakhaber Tshhadadze, the striker subsequently asked Lokomotiv to allow him to practice with their team until Dinamo return from Cyprus. Although Lokomotiv agreed, Dinamo have decided to bar him from the club until the end of his contract. Club spokesman David Eradze said: "We will not sell him until the end of the season, and we will not let him play for the club either."
Itinerant career
Zikarishvili's contract with Dinamo expires in May 2002 and the club are still considering fining the striker. Zikarishvili has played for numerous Georgian clubs throughout his career, and also had a short spell with Portuguese side SC Farense in 1997 when he scored one goal in three matches.
