The hosts leapfrogged Nürnberg into 16th place in the 18-team table with a superb performance in the Fritz-Walter-Stadion, taking the lead through Vratislav Lokvenc in the 19th minute.

Klose on target
German international striker Miroslav Klose added a second from the penalty spot six minutes later, before second-half strikes from Jose Dominguez, Christian Timm and Nenad Bjelica completed the scoring.

Hannover move up
In Sunday's other match, Hannover 96 moved above FC Hansa Rostock into eleventh place after coming from behind to claim a timely 3-1 home victory.

Bobic equaliser
Thomas Meggle fired the visitors into the lead five minutes before the interval, but Fredi Bobic mustered an instant reply for Hannover. Mohammadou Idrissou (45) and Kostas Konstantinidis (67) added further goals to complete a memorable afternoon for Ralf Rangnick's side.
