FC Bayern München have loaned midfielder Toni Kroos to Bundesliga rivals Bayer 04 Leverkusen until the end of next season after the 19-year-old requested a move away from the club, having made just seven league appearances in the autumn.

Bayern record
Kroos became Bayern's youngest ever player in the Bundesliga when he made his debut in a 5-0 win against FC Energie Cottbus on 26 September 2007 as a 17-year-old. He was also Player of the Tournament at the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup. "It was a surprise to us too when Bayern offered Kroos to us of all clubs, but the player said that he wanted to join us," explained Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Völler. Kroos, whose Bayern contract expires in 2011, is currently suffering from ankle ligament problems. Bayern meet Sporting Clube de Portugal in the UEFA Champions League first knockout round on 25 February and 10 March.
