Totti staring at lengthy absence

AS Roma captain Francesco Totti will be out for at least the rest of the season after suffering cruciate ligament damage in his right knee at home to AS Livorno Calcio.

Initial reports
The 31-year-old forward was carried off after 39 minutes of the game at the Stadio Olimpico, with team-mate Mancini coming on. Totti was immediately taken to hospital where a scan confirmed the extent of his injury. Initial reports suggest he could be absent for as long as six months and he is also expected to require surgery, possibly even this weekend.

Inter lead
The capital club's talisman fired 14 goals in 24 league appearances this term to help his team put pressure on leaders FC Internazionale Milano. The draw with basement outfit Livorno has seriously dented their title chances, though, with Inter now hoping to increase their three-point advantage at Torino FC on Sunday.
