US Sassuolo Calcio have parted company with coach Eusebio di Francesco following their 3-1 defeat at fellow Italian strugglers AS Livorno Calcio on Sunday.
The 44-year-old, who counts US Lecce and Pescara Calcio among his former employers, guided Sassuolo to promotion to Serie A last term. He leaves with the club third from bottom in the relegation zone, having harvested just 17 points from 21 games – a point adrift of safety. The weekend loss to second-bottom Livorno was Sassuolo's sixth reverse in seven league matches.
"US Sassuolo Calcio wish to thank Mr Di Francesco for the important role he has played in the last 19 months and for the team's success under him, for which he will always be part of the club's history," read a statement from the Emilia-Romagna side. No successor has been named.
