The 42-year-old Italian is a former full-back who, during a long career, won the UEFA Cup in 1990 with Juventus FC. This will be his first job at a top-flight club after he coached in the Italian lower leagues with FC Moncalieri and Vado FC.
Third-place aim
At the midway point of the Romanian First Division season, Universitatea are sitting fourth in the table, six points behind third-placed AFC Rapid Bucuresti, a side Universitatea president Adrian Mititelu is hoping his Napoli-inspired team can overhaul. He said: "At the end of this season, we want to be in the third place in order to have a chance of playing in the UEFA Cup next season."
