Wales round-up: Llansantffraid stay ahead

TNS Llansantffraid FC edged nearer to the title with a hard-earned 1-0 win at Connah's Quay Nomads FC.

Stout performance
Connah's Quay produced a stout performance only two days losing 6-0 at second-placed Barry Town AFC to produce a tough test for the leaders. However, Mike Wilde struck on 59 minutes to ensure victory for Llanffransaid.

Barry in touch
However, reigning champions Barry remain in touch after winning 1-0 at Caersws FC. Jamie Moralee scored his 16th league goal of the season in the 26th minute to decide the game, Barry able to hold on even after the sending-off of Tom Ramasut for a second bookable offence six minutes from time. Barry are a point behind Llanffransaid, but with only five games left to the leaders' six.

Rhyl hopes ended
Bangor City FC are still five points off first place with six fixtures remaining after they consolidated third place with a 1-0 victory at home to Rhyl FC. Simon Davies's penalty on 72 minutes proved decisive and ended any hopes fourth-placed Rhyl had of overhauling Bangor for the UEFA Intertoto Cup berth.

Last-minute equaliser
Aberystwyth Town FC were denied a move into the top four as they were held 1-1 by sixth-placed Afan Lido FC courtesy of a last-minute Paul Evans equaliser. Glyndwr Hughes had put visitors Aberystwyth ahead two minutes before half-time, but Evans was on target to secure Afan Lido a point.
