Slaviša Kokeza will serve a new four-year term as president of the Football Association of Serbia (FSS) after his re-election by acclamation at the association’s assembly.

The 42-year-old, who was elected as president in 2016, promised further football development in Serbia after a first term which included the national team’s qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, and promotion from League C in the UEFA Nations League after finishing top of their group.

Kokeza pledged to provide the best possible conditions for the national team to qualify for UEFA EURO 2020. The UEFA Nations League success gives the team an opportunity to book a EURO place via the playoffs.

“A better tomorrow,” Kokeza said, “is not possible without adequate infrastructure.” The FSS, in partnership with the Serbian government, has determined the location for the construction of a new National Stadium.

Stadium development and construction is also in the pipeline elsewhere in Serbia, and Kokeza also promised every assistance to clubs in their quest for further progress.

“We will continue to develop our strong relationship with UEFA,” the FSS president concluded, “and will raise the standard of Serbian football to a new level.”
