Romanian side FC Politehnica AEK Timisoara have appointed Gavril Pele Balint as their new coach.
Balint replaces Gheorghe Multescu, who left the club for Turkish side Samsunspor after saving Politehnica from relegation in a play-off earlier this month. The former FC Steaua Bucuresti player has signed a one-year contract with the option of a second term, and will be assisted by Iosif Rotariu.
"Politehnica were the only club to make me a concrete offer," the 40-year-old Balint said. "Plus, I'll be able to stay in Romania, in a wonderful city like Timisoara."
Balint returns to the Romanian First Division after winning the Moldovan championship with FC Sheriff Tiraspol. He was previously in charge of CF Sportul Studentesc, having held assistant coaching positions with Turkish side Galatasaray SK and the Romanian national team.
