Bargain buys for Vitesse

News round-up: SBV Vitesse have signed striker Igor Gluscevic and defender Stijn Vreven on free transfers.

Eredivisie new boys De Graafschap have signed Bosnian defender Darije Kalezic from second division side AGOW on a two-year contract. De Graafschap general manager Johan Tukker was pleased with the new arrival who previously played for RKC Waalwijk from 1995 to 2002. "We are delighted to have signed a player of Kalezic's calibre to strengthen our defence," he said.

Ligue 1 side SC Bastia have snapped up the former Liverpool FC and Norway defender Bjørn Tore Kvarme, who was released by Spain's Real Sociedad de Fútbol last month. Meanwhile, French midfield player Eric Joly's transfer to Scottish club Kilmarnock FC is to be completed on Saturday, subject to international clearance. Joly, the brother-in-law of Kilmarnock defender Freddie Dindeleux, arrives from RAEC Mons. Manchester United FC, meanwhile, have snapped up the Heart of Midlothian FC youth team player David Gray for €75,000.

Aberdeen FC's chief executive Keith Wyness has resigned after three years in charge at Pittodrie. Wyness has been linked with a similar post at English Premiership club Everton FC. "It's been a great privilege to work for Aberdeen but the time is right to move on," said Wyness. "A number of very successful processes, initiatives and commercial deals are now in place and I am confident that the current management team can take these forward." Finance director Duncan Fraser and the club's director of football Willie Miller, will share Wyness's former duties on a permanent basis.

Italian Under-21 international Andrea Caracciolo has renewed his contract with Brescia Calcio until 2008. The 22-year-old scored 12 goals in 31 games while on loan at AC Perugia last season. His previous deal was due to expire in 2006. Caracciolo made one appearance in Italy's successful UEFA European Under-21 Championship campaign this summer.
