Bundesliga new boys FC Energie Cottbus have acquired the services of defender Mariusz Kukielka on a two-year contract. The former Polish international, 29, arrives at the Stadion der Freundschaft from third-division outfit 1. FC Dynamo Dresden.
Danish Superleague club Odense BK have signed Brazilian midfielder Bechara Jalkh on a two-year contract from Fortaleza EC. The 30-year-old is "a very experienced midfielder and a free-kick specialist too", according to OB director Kin Brinch. Bechara was previously with Aalesunds Fotballklubb in Norway.
KSK Beveren have signed 26-year-old French midfielder Laurent Macquet on a free transfer from Greek club Akratitos FC. Macquet, formerly of AS Cannes and R. Charleroi SC, has agreed a two-year contract as has David Van Hoyweghen, the 30-year-old former Beveren youth-team defender who has left K. Sint Truidense VV. Beveren have also seen Mohamed Diallo, 23, depart for FC Sion, with the Ivory Coast midfielder set for a three-year deal with the Swiss UEFA Cup contenders.
UEFA Intertoto Cup entrants FC Shakhtyor Karagandy were held to a 2-2 home draw by FC Astana in the first leg of their Kazakh Cup semi-final. Andrey Finonchenko scored twice for Shakhtyor with Maksim Zhalmanbetov and Aleksandr Kuchma replying for the visitors. The return is scheduled for 30 August. FC Alma-Ata meet FC Irtysh Pavlodar in the other semi-final on 30 June and 30 August.
