The former Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) president Hristo Danov has passed away at the age of 66.

The former Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) president Hristo Danov has passed away at the age of 66.

Danov took the BFU’s helm in the spring of 1994, and was president when the Bulgarian national team enjoyed its most successful achievement that same year, reaching the semi-finals and eventually finishing fourth in the FIFA World Cup in the United States.

A club president with PFC Botev Plovdiv in the early 1990s, Danov remained BFU president until the autumn of 1995.
