Czech Republic round-up: Teplice edge past Bohemians

CU Bohemians Praha lost 3-2 to FK Teplice in a thrilling 1. liga encounter on Sunday.

CU Bohemians Praha were eliminated from the Czech Cup by FK Teplice three weeks ago and they lost to them again in a thrilling 1. liga encounter today.

Seven without a win
Having conceded four goals at home in their last league game, Bohemians were again stunned in the early stages at the Na Stínadlech stadium by Jiri Skala and Zbynek Rampácek headers following free-kicks. The visitors equalised twice through Zdenek Šenkerík, but there was to be no response to Teplice's third goal thirteen minutes before the final whistle, Ludìk Zelenka easing Teplice's relegation fears with a close-range strike following a corner. Bohemians defender Michal Petrouš was also dismissed in the last minute to complete his teams misery and Bohemians have now gone seven games without win.

Volley brings a point
Elsewhere, FC Baník Ostrava could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to 1. FC Synot. The hosts poured forward and Bronislav Èervenka was only denied by the woodwork, but Petr Drozd then converted Martin Lukeš'  32nd-minute free-kick to open the scoring. However the visitors, who lost to the same opponents 4-0 at home before winter break, levelled after the interval when Tomáš Vajda's first-time shot from the edge of the penalty area found its way into the net.

Unbreachable keeper
SK Hradec Králové and FC Brno played out a goalless draw meaning that home goalkeeper Karel Podhajský has not conceded a goal in his last four matches. The draw left both sides in mid-table positions with no relegation worries.
