Scotland round-up: Golden-boy Larsson injured

Europe’s Golden Shoe winner Henrik Larsson faces a spell on the sidelines after being carried off in Celtic FC’s 3-0 win at Dundee FC on Sunday.

Hamstring horror
The Swedish striker was carried off with a hamstring injury, but not before scoring his 24th goal of the season as Celtic maintained their 13-point advantage at the top of the Scottish Premier League.

Precautionary substitution
Speaking about the prolific 30-year-old at Dundee’s Dens Park stadium, Celtic manager Martin O'Neill said: “We won't know if it is serious until tomorrow. But he was feeling his hamstring and we took him off as a precaution.”

O'Neill: 'Big win'
But O'Neill admitted his side are now within sight of a second successive league title. He said: “That was a big win away from home today – the finishing line is definitely in sight now.”

Hartson seals it
After Larsson had put the visitors ahead midway through the first half, Johan Mjällby doubled Celtic’s advantage just before half-time and John Hartson’s 76th-minute goal sealed the victory.

Lambert listens
Meanwhile, 32-year-old Celtic midfield player Paul Lambert insists he will listen to new Scotland coach Berti Vogts, but will not go back on his decision to retire from international football. He said: “You have to respect a man with that level of knowledge, but he has to respect my decision to stop.”
