Arnesen heads Tottenham team

Members

Frank Arnesen has become Tottenham Hotspur FC's sporting director after leaving PSV Eindhoven.

Three-year contract
Arnesen stepped down as general manager of the Dutch side and has signed a three-year contract in London. The former Danish international takes over from David Pleat, who has resigned as the club's director of football. Pleat had also been caretaker manager following the departure of Glenn Hoddle in September.

'Exciting league'
Arnesen will be responsible for the scouting system, the youth department and transfers and will work closely with the still-to-be-appointed manager. "I am delighted to get the opportunity to work for a big club like Tottenham and in the most exciting league in the world," he said. "A club of this stature should be competing regularly for honours."

Wide role
The 47-year-old played at the 1984 UEFA European Championship and the 1986 FIFA World Cup en route to 52 caps for Denmark. He was a member of the RSC Anderlecht side that lost the 1984 UEFA Cup final on penalties to Tottenham.
