Prolific Pršo rescues Monaco

Dado Pršo scored again to keep sink AC Ajaccio and keep AS Monaco FC top of France's Ligue 1.

Goalscoring phenomenon Dado Pršo's birthday celebrations continued long into the weekend as he followed up his four-goal haul against RC Deportivo La Coruña with the winning strike against AC Ajaccio to keep AS Monaco FC sitting pretty at the top of France's Ligue 1.

Late winner
Pršo marked his 29th birthday on Wednesday by scoring half of Monaco's goals in their 8-3 UEFA Champions League win against Deportivo and just as it seemed his side would draw a blank at the François-Coty, the Croatian striker pounced to score the game's only goal on 82 minutes.

Marseille slip
Olympique Lyonnais sit three points behind in second after winning their crucial Sunday evening encounter against third-placed Olympique de Marseille 4-1. Giovane Elber saw his opener cancelled out by Daniel van Buyten but Juninho Pernambucano scored goals either side of Pegguy Luyindula's 58th-minute strike to ensure Marseille were the only team in the top eight not to record a victory.

Alonzo heroics
A solitary Fabrice Fiorese goal helped steer Paris Saint-Germain FC to a 1-0 away win against FC Nantes Atlantique, who were denied by a string of wonderful saves from visiting goalkeeper Jérôme Alonzo. RC Lens sit a place further back in fifth after edging out Montpellier Hérault SC by the odd goal in five at the Félix-Bollaert.

Lens fightback
Lens had to recover from two goals down after conceding twice in the opening quarter of an hour but Daniel Moreira was their hero. He set up John Utaka for the game's third goal before scoring a 51st-minute equaliser and laying on the pass for Dagui Bakari to seal the fightback.

Frau opener
FC Sochaux Montbéliard had Pierre-Alain Frau to thank for putting them on the road to victory, his sixth goal of the season on nine minutes setting up a 3-1 home win against Toulouse FC. Santos doubled the advantage on 64 minutes and although Anthony Braizat's beauty gave Toulouse hope, Benoît Pendretti wrapped up all three points in added time.

Home wins
AJ Auxerre and OGC Nice are level on 20 points after picking up comfortable home wins against EA Guingamp and SC Bastia respectively. Auxerre's 3-0 victory came courtesy of goals from Djibril Cissé either side of a Teemu Tainio volley while Nice also won without conceding, seeing off Bastia 2-0 thanks to Christophe Meslin's double.

First success
Bottom club Le Mans UC 72 were the only other French side to win at the weekend, recording their first league win of the season at home against FC Metz. Laurent Peyrelade and Daniel Cousin, who saw his late penalty saved, scored the goals in a 2-0 success.

Chamakh off
Elsewhere, Marouane Chamakh went from hero to zero for visiting FC Girondins de Bordeaux at RC Strasbourg's La Meinau. The Moroccan-born striker scored the opener but was sent off on 82 minutes before Strasbourg captain Corentin Martins equalised from the penalty spot for a share of the spoils. Stade Rennais FC managed to record a 2-2 draw despite having two men sent off for fighting in their game at home against Lille OSC.
