Coaching trio quit Belshina

Members

Coach Vyacheslav Akshaev, his assistant and the team director have all quit FC Belshina Bobruisk.

Belarussian champions FC Belshina Bobruisk have been shocked by the resignation of coach Vyacheslav Akshaev, Igor Gasjuto, his assistant, and team director Igor Starovoitov.

Cup disappointment
Belshina chairman Oleg Guscha was unavailable for comment after the three left the club on Monday. Belshina were eliminated from the recent Commonwealth Cup at the first stage - despite being favourites to qualify from a group containing FC Flora, Nisa Ashkabad, and FC SKA PVO Bishkek - and the club are thought to be suffering severe financial hardship.

Bonuses not paid
Akshaev recently said of the financial situation: "The state of affairs is not as bad as you think ... It is even worse." Reports in the country suggest the club's players did not receive bonuses due for winning the Belarussian first division and a number of Belshina's leading players have decided to leave the club.

New teams sought
Defender Aleksandr Sednev, the leading scorer with ten goals last season, and midfield player Vladimir Ostrikov are both searching for new teams. Goalkeeper Valeri Shantalosov is set to join Torpedo-MAZ Minsk, and Aleksandr Shagoiko is on trial at Russian Premier-Liga side SC Rotor Volgograd.
