FK Mladá Boleslav have won their first Czech Cup, beating SK Sigma Olomouc on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the final in Jihlava.

Mladá Boleslav looked to be ending the season on a low after five straight league defeats prompted the resignation of coach Karel Stanner last week, but sporting director Ladislav Minář proved to be an able caretaker, following up his side's 2-1 victory at 1. FC Slovácko on Saturday with Czech Cup glory.

Jan Schulmeister hit the post for Olomouc after 14 minutes as they dominated the game early on, finally making the breakthrough just before the hour mark when Czech Under-21 international Tomáš Hořava capped a fine run from his own half with a goal.

Ivo Táborský equalised from the spot, though, after Aleš Škerle had tripped Jan Chramosta, and with no further goals following extra time, the game went to penalties. Miroslav Miller was the hero for Mladá Boleslav, saving three efforts, allowing Chramosta to score the winner.
