AC Milan have reclaimed their one-point lead in Serie A after posting a 3-1 win at AC Cesena, on a day when S.S. Lazio conceded five.

Juventus assumed first place by downing Calcio Catania 3-1 on Saturday and still boast a game in hand, but Milan made sure to lift themselves back on top before they entertain the Bianconeri on Saturday. Sulley Muntari set things rolling with a goal on his debut after 29 minutes and Urby Emanuelson struck a second moments later, before Robinho added to his midweek double against Arsenal FC with the third after half-time.

Daniel Pudil's 65th-minute effort for the hosts was no more than a consolation, and Cesena remain bottom of the standings, seven points from safety.

Udinese Calcio, meanwhile, are up to third – level on points with fourth-placed Lazio – after they drew 0-0 with Cagliari Calcio and the Biancocelesti suffered a 5-1 reverse against US Città di Palermo. Lazio had André Dias dismissed with 16 minutes left.

US Lecce are two points away from danger thanks to their 4-1 success against fourth-bottom AC Siena. Elsewhere, AS Roma edged Parma FC 1-0, AC Chievo Verona triumphed by the same margin at Genoa CFC and the game between Novara Calcio and Atalanta BC ended goalless.
