Belarus defender Erik Yakhimovic has signed a one-year deal with Chinese top-flight side Shandong Luneng FC.
International honours
The 33-year-old sweeper played for FC Dinamo Minsk, Dinamo Moscow, Vanspor and finally Gaziantepspor before moving to China. Since 1993, he has been capped 34 times by his country.
Contract cancelled
Yakhimovic left the Turkish club despite being contracted to the club until September 2002, after a payment dispute led to a mutual cancellation of his contract. He spent four months looking for a new club, but ended up in China, where he will team up with Russian coach Valeri Nemonashi, who took Cameroon to the 1990 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals.
