Turkey round-up: Besiktas back on top

Besiktas JK survived came from behind to win 4-2 on Saturday and take top spot in the Super Lig.

Besiktas JK survived an early scare against struggling Yozgatspor before running out 4-2 winners and taking top spot in the Super Lig.

Besiktas go behind
The Istanbul club fell behind after just two minutes when Cem Karaca disposed Besiktas defender Tamer Tuna and fed Markus Sumiala, who neatly controlled the ball before firing past Thomas Myhre.

Ahmet strikes back
The home side were level in the 19th minute, however, after Tamer's cross found Ahmet Dursun who headed home the equaliser. Ahmet put Besiktas ahead in the 31st minute, scoring with a great free-kick from just outside the penalty box.

Sumiala on target
Yozgatspor continued to defy their position at the foot of the table though when Sumiala drew them level again two minutes after half-time, evading Ahmet Yildirim's challenge before finding the net but a close-range effort from Ilhan Mansiz in the 53rd minute put Besiktas in front again.

Ilhan scores again
And the club's top scorer sealed the three points with his second of the night - and his 19th of the season - in the 68th minute after latching on to Ali Eren Beserler's searching pass.

Hassan hat-trick
Egyptian forward Ahmed Hassan notched a hat-trick against his old club Denizlispor to help Gençlerbirligi SK move further away from bottom of the table with a 4-2 home win. Hassan opened the scoring in the 30th minute after receiving Cafer Aydin's clever pass.

Coulibaly double
Aydin was on the scoresheet himself on the hour mark, heading in Tomasz Gregor Zdebel's corner at the far post. Hassan completed his treble with goals in the 68th and 75th minutes as the rampant hosts threatened to run riot. Fernand Coulibaly gave some respectability to the scoreline though, netting in the 70th and 80th minutes.

Three points for Samsunspor
Samsunspor eased their relegation worries slightly with a surprising 2-1 home victory over high-flying Gaziantepspor. Mehmet Hilmi Yilmaz scored the first of his two goals in the 32nd minute, netting with a neat volley after Müslim Can had crossed. Yilmaz was on target again four minutes after the hour mark.

Late penalty
Vural Korkmaz's cross found Müslim, and his fierce shot came back off visiting keeper Fevzi Tuncay and fell straight to Mehmet, who made no mistake from the rebound. Gaziantepspor were back in the match three minutes from time when Mustafa Sahintürk scored from the penalty spot, but it was too little too late.

Relief for Kocaelispor
In the day's other game, Kocaelispor ended their six game losing streak with a 2-1 away win at Trabzonspor.
