FC Sportul Studentesc have re-appointed former Romanian international Dan Petrescu as club coach.
The 36-year-old led the club at the beginning of last season as they attempted to bounce back into Divizia A. However, after a staggering start to his managerial career, with 13 wins and two draws in the first 15 games, he attracted the attention of AFC Rapid Bucuresti, for whom he signed a three-year contract in December. However, after just four months in charge, the former Chelsea FC defender resigned.
After leaving for the capital, Petrescu was replaced by Gabi Balint, who built on his former FC Steaua Bucuresti and international team-mate's great start to the season to win the league and take Sportul back into the Romanian top flight.
Balint resigned at the end of the season to become assistant coach to another ex-colleague, Gheorghe Hagi, at Galatasaray SK. This opened the way for Petrescu, who has signed a four-year contract with the club, to return to the post.
