Čeferin re-elected in Slovenia

Aleksander Čeferin will serve a second four-year term as president of the Football Association of Slovenia (NZS) after his re-election at the association's assembly.

Aleksander Čeferin has been re-elected as president of the Football Association of Slovenia (NZS) and will serve a second four-year term.

The 47-year-old lawyer was the only candidate in the election at the Slovene association's assembly. He highlighted the main tasks facing the NZS in the coming period, which include completion of the Brdo national football training centre and assistance to local clubs.

Čeferin emphasised the excellent relationship between UEFA and the NZS. "UEFA is really our closest partner and a great supporter," he reflected. "Already in my first term in office, we proved that we can organise major UEFA events, and the latest confirmation of our good work came a few days ago when we were awarded the organisation of UEFA Futsal EURO 2018."

The NZS president also expressed a major football wish: "It is my big desire to see Slovenia at UEFA EURO 2016 in France," he said. "But I have no influence on this, as I can only support a team from the stands." Slovenia currently lie second in Group E in the European Qualifiers.
