Dinamo miss proves costly

Members

NK Dinamo Zagreb were held to a 1-1 draw by NK Varteks in the first leg of the Croatian Cup final.

NK Dinamo Zagreb midfield player Jasmin Agic squandered a 69th-minute penalty as his side were held to a 1-1 draw by NK Varteks in the first leg of the Croatian Cup final.

End-to-end encounter
In an end-to-end encounter at the Maksimir stadium tonight, the visitors took a surprise lead through Nedlim Halilovic after 21 minutes. Dinamo levelled just after half-time thanks to a Goce Sedloski strike, but Agic's spot-kick miss means Varteks go into the return leg next Wednesday with a slight advantage.

'We got lucky'

Coach satisfied
"Nothing is lost," said Dinamo coach Marijan Vlak. "I agree with Janzek, the match had two faces. We made plenty of mistakes in the first half. I am not happy with the result but I am very much satisfied with the way we played in the second half.  We should have converted some of the five or six clear chances we had."
