Junior the difference
Trailing 2-1 from the first leg in Turin, Parma struck early through Junior, the Brazilian full-back scoring after Ciro Ferrara had only half-cleared Hidetoshi Nakata's third-minute corner. Gianluca Zambrotta almost replied immediately with a shot that struck the crossbar and later saw his header well saved by Claudio Taffarel in the home goal.
Juventus pressure
Parma had the ball in the net at the start of the second half but goalscorer Johan Micoud was ruled offside. Juventus upped the pressure after the introductions of Alessandro Del Piero, David Trezeguet and Marcelo Salas - making his first appearance after a serious knee injury - but Parma held on.
No double
For Parma, who will play in next season's UEFA Cup, this was a third Coppa Italia success, adding to the ones in 1992 and 1999. Juventus, meanwhile, had to be content with the Serie A title they clinched last weekend, their hopes of a third league and cup double over.
