Pršo earns plaudits in Croatia

Rangers FC striker Dado Pršo beat Darijo Srna and Ivan Klasnic to the 2004 Croatian Player of the Year award.

The Rangers FC striker Dado Pršo has been named the Croatian Player of the Year for the second season in succession.

The 30-year-old registered 105 votes in the poll organised by Croatian newspaper Vecernji list, 17 more than FC Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Darijo Srna and 34 more than Werder Bremen forward Ivan Klasnic. Pršo, who played in the UEFA Champions League final for AS Monaco FC before heading to Scotland in the summer, said: "I'm delighted. Now it's up to all of us in the national team to secure a place in the [2006 FIFA] World Cup in Germany."

Other awards
In the young player poll, NK Inter's Luka Modric finished ahead of HNK Hajduk Split's Mario Grgurovic, while NK Dinamo Zagreb forward Eduardo da Silva was named the best player in the Croatian top flight ahead of NK Rijeka forward Tomislav Erceg and NK Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Niko Kranjcar.
