Tied until 2008
The 26-year-old has signed a contract tying him to Dick Advocaat's team until 2008. Daems, a former K. Lierse SK player, ends a four-year stay with the Turkish club, where he made 98 league appearances, scoring 13 goals.
Ziege replacement
"We already had an agreement with him that he would join us in the summer. But with Christian Ziege out injured we decided to bring the transfer forward by a few months," explained Mönchengladbach sporting director Christian Hochstätter. Daems can play on the left side of midfield or as a left wing-back.
Sixth signing
The newcomer is Mönchengladbach's sixth winter signing, the Bundesliga club having already recruited Wesley Sonck (AFC Ajax), Jörg Böhme (FC Schalke 04), Bernd Thijs (Trabzonspor), Kasey Keller (Tottenham Hotspur FC) and Craig Moore (Rangers FC).
