Wortmann walks in at Dinamo

Strong pedigree
The 56-year-old Brazilian will reportedly be paid a €1m salary to improve the fortunes of the Russian capital club, who have invested heavily in Portuguese and Brazilian players but are languishing in seventh position in the Russian Premier-Liga. Recommended by Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, Wortmann has coached a string of top clubs around the world, including Brazilian outfits Cruzeiro EC, SC Internacional, Botafogo FR and Miami Fusion of the United States. He also won the FIFA U-17 World Championship with Saudi Arabia and guided that country to the 1996 Olympic Games.

Coaching team
Although Kobelev remains at the club to assist Wortmann, the new coach has brought in three members of his coaching staff from Juventude. Alvaro Peixoto will be his No2, Rodrigo Poletto will take over fitness training, while Ademir Sanga will concentrate on improving the goalkeepers. In addition to eight players from Brazil and Portugal in the Dinamo squad, Giourkas Seitaridis and Joseph Enakarhire have both played in the Portuguese SuperLiga and speak the language.

'Will to win'
"It was not an easy decision," Wortmann said. "The reason I say that is because everything went well for me in Brazil - both work-wise and in my private life. It was fun working at Juventude and the team played well. Yet Dinamo are a club with international pedigree. This offer is a great honour for me and I was proud to have received it. After giving it some thought, I agreed, and now I am going to Russia with great will to work and win."
