Portuguese SuperLiga side Boavista FC have released 27-year-old Brazilian central defender Éder Guterres from his contract to enable him to sign for a foreign team. According to the terms of the agreement, should the player return to Portugal, he will resume his career at Boavista. In his place, Boavista have recruited former Portuguese Under-23 international Ricardo Silva, once a youth player at the club, who has been freed by SC Beira-Mar.

A defender on his way to Portugal is Nuno Morais, who has been loaned to CS Marítimo by Chelsea FC for the 2005/06 season. The centre-back, who joined Chelsea a year ago from FC Penafiel and made his Champions League debut against FC Bayern München, follows forward Filipe Oliveira in being loaned to Marítimo from Stamford Bridge this summer. He replaces the Sporting Clube de Portugal-bound Tonel.

Belarussian striker Roman Vasilyuk has joined FC Gomel on a free transfer from FC Spartak Moskva. The 26-year-old, who won the last of 15 international caps in 2003, made just six league appearances for the Russian team after leaving his homeland four years ago and has spent the last six months on loan at Hapoel Tel-Aviv FC. He has signed a three-year deal with mid-table Gomel.

Belgian outfit R. Excelsior Mouscron have signed Bosnia-Herzegovnian striker Adnan Custovic and Slovenian left-back Suad Filekovic after they impressed in a week's trial. Custovic, 27, arrives from French Ligue 2 side Amiens SC on a contract until summer 2007 with a 12-month option, the same terms as 26-year-old NK Maribor left-back Filekovic.

Moldovan Under-21 international Anatolie Doros has joined Polish top-flight newcomers Korona Kielce on a two-year deal from Legia Warszawa. The 22-year-old, who was loaned to KSP Polonia Warszawa last spring, was due to return to Moldova after cancelling his Legia contract, but instead moved to Korona after impressing coach Ryszard Wieczorek in a trial.

Legia have also allowed attacking midfielder Ireneusz Kowalski to join MKS Odra Wodzislaw Slaski on a season-long loan. The 26-year-old, a regular at Zaglebie Lubin before arriving at Legia, has made only substitute appearances for the capital club. Meanwhile, 25-year-old defender Michal Karwan has left Górnik Zabrze for MKS Cracovia SSA, where he has signed a five-year contract.

Scottish team Motherwell FC will be without Martyn Corrigan for the start of the season after discovering the centre-back has fractured his knee cap. The 27-year-old sustained the injury against Hibernian FC in May but only learnt the extent of the problem after a pre-season friendly.

Belgium's KVC Westerlo have signed Björn De Wilde on a free transfer from K. Lierse SK. The 26-year-old forward has penned a one-year deal, with an option for two more. Last term he played on loan for relegated KV Oostende.
