Ramos sacked following suspension

RCD Espanyol have confirmed the dismissal of coach Juande Ramos, two weeks after he was suspended.

Spanish Primera División club RCD Espanyol have confirmed the dismissal of coach Juande Ramos, two weeks after he was suspended from his duties.

No wins in five
Ramos left Real Betis Balompié to take charge at Espanyol during the summer but the side failed to record a victory in their first five league games of the season. His suspension came after he blamed the club for not signing the players he wanted.

Moya in line
The former reserve team coach, Ramón Moya, was appointed caretaker coach a fortnight ago and, after winning two of his three games in charge, will continue on a full-time basis until the end of the season, results permitting. However, speculation continues to link former Spain coach José António Camacho to the post.

Assistant fired
Juan Ramón López Muniz, assistant coach to Ramos, has also been sacked. However, the Barcelona club do not intend to pay any compensation to Muniz or Ramos although the 48-year-old Ramos is expected to contest that decision.

'Sacking without compensation'

Espanyol's legal advisor Gabriel Almarzegui said: "In the cases of Juande and Muniz, it is a sacking without compensation. If they consider that is not correct, they have a right to go to court. If the court considers that the decision made by the club is not proper then they will pay compensation."
