Gourcuff signs on for Rossoneri

AC Milan have signed one of Europe's brightest talents after securing the services of the France U21 midfielder Yoann Gourcuff from Stade Rennais FC.

Rising star
The attack-minded player, who will turn 20 next month, is considered one of Europe's brightest young talents and has agreed a contract until 2011 at the San Siro. After making his Ligue 1 debut in 2004, Gourcuff quickly established himself at the heart of the Rennes team and played 36 games, scoring six goals last season. An integral member of the France side that won the 2005 UEFA European U19 Championship, Gourcuff also represented his country at the U21 finals last month.

European experience
Gourcuff will be part of Milan's plans to regain the UEFA Champions League and has European experience after appearing five times in the UEFA Cup last term. He becomes the ninth Frenchman to play for the Rossoneri, with Vikash Dhorasoo the most recent. His 51-year-old father Christian is coach of Ligue 1 newcomers FC Lorient, where Gourcuff Jr began his career as an academy youngster.
