Bertalan Bicskei will lead Újpest FC into the UEFA Cup after signing a one-year contract to coach the Hungarian club.

'No major changes'
The 62-year-old former Hungary and Malaysia coach said: "My first impressions are very good. The club works along the lines of those from western Europe and the team has a certain style in which it plays so I don't plan any major changes with the UEFA Cup so close."

First qualifying round
Having finished second in the Hungarian top flight last season, missing out on the title on the final day, Újpest will enter the UEFA Cup on 13 July when they tackle FC Vaduz of Liechtenstein in the first qualifying round. Bicskei replaces Géza Mészöly, 39, who was today appointed coach of relegated Vasas SC on a two-year contract.
