Real Zaragoza's attempts to mount a serious challenge in the forthcoming Primera Division campaign have been further boosted by the loan signing of Spanish prodigy Gerard Piqué.
The 19-year-old Manchester United FC defender was a key performer as his country won the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Poland last Saturday. Piqué, who has made three Premiership appearances for United, becomes the club's fifth recruit under new coach Víctor Fernández after Argentinian midfielders Pablo Aimar and Andres D'Alessandro, and defenders Sergio Fernández and Juanfran. Zaragoza finished eleventh in the league last season and lost to RCD Espanyol in the Copa del Rey final.
