Santa Clara make loan moves

Portuguese basement club CD Santa Clara have strengthened their squad with two new signings.

Double swoop
The Ponta Delgada side have brought in Brazilian attacking midfield player Tucho on a six-month loan from América Mineiro of Brazil, and secured a similar deal for right-sided defender Cuco from Portuguese second division club FC Maia.

High hopes
"I am really looking forward to playing in Portugal," said the 22-year-old Tucho. "It is going to be a great experience for me. The team is not in a good position, but I will do all I can to help them improve their situation." Cuco, meanwhile, joined after Maia agreed to release their player for the rest of the campaign.

Cuco praise
Still only 20, Cuco began his career with FC Porto. "He is a player with a great future," said Santa Clara official Rui Almeida, whose team have won just three of their 16 league games this term.
