Guso off to Universitatea

Members

FC Universitatea Craiova have signed Bosnia-Herzegovnian international goalkeeper Adnan Guso.

Trading places
Guso has joined Universitatea from Bosnian side FK Sarajevo on a three-and-a-half-year contract worth €33,000 per season, despite recent interest from English Premiership club West Ham United FC who offered him a trial.

Bosnian link
Universitatea had initially tried to buy Bosnia-Herzegovina's first-choice custodian Tomislav Piplica, who plays in the German Bundesliga with FC Energie Cottbus, but they then turned to his regular understudy to solve their goalkeeping problems. Capped 15 times by his country, the former FC Spartak Moskva and Erzurumspor keeper becomes the third Bosnian player in the Romanian first division, joining the FC National Bucuresti pair Slavisa Mitrovic and Boris Kec.

Relegation threat
Guso is Universitatea's second signing in a week following the capture of midfielder Zeno Bundea from Russian outfit FC Zenit St. Peterburg. His new side lie eleventh in the 16-team first division and are seeking to avoid relegation. Leaving the club, meanwhile, are Ionut Dragomir and Constantin Nica who have been released.
