AC Chievo Verona midfield player Dario Passoni will become the second Italian to play in Russia having signed for FC Uralan Elista, where he will join fellow countryman Alessandro Dal Canto.
Varied career
The 29-year-old began his career with Internazionale FC’s youth teams before going on to play for Casarano, AS Fidelis Andria and AC Venezia. He joined Chievo in Serie B in 1997, scoring five goals in 106 matches before moving to AC Siena on loan when Chievo won promotion to Serie A in 2000/01.
Top-flight experience
Passoni returned to the Chievo side this season and made five Serie A appearances. However, Passoni’s contract was due to expire at the end of the season, so president Luca Campedelli agreed to sell player for a nominal fee. The length of the contract he has signed with Uralan, who are coached by former Inter player Igor Shalimov, is unknown, but his yearly wages are reported to be €250,000.
