Portuguese champions FC Porto have signed striker Edgar from SC Beira-Mar, with the Brazilian arriving on an initial one-year deal.

High point
Porto have paid an undisclosed fee for the talented 20-year-old, while having the option to extend Edgar's contract by three years at the end of next season. "It is a great achievement to get to a club like Porto, but I will not stop here," said the forward, who scored four goals in 13 games as Beira-Mar were relegated from the Portuguese Liga.

Third acquisition
"I have to show why I am here and will give my best to win over the fans." Edgar moved to Beira-Mar last year from São Paulo FC having also played for Joinville EC in his native country. He becomes Porto's third summer signing after his compatriots Lino and Fernando, who were recruited from A. Académica de Coimbra and Vila Nova FC respectively.
