AS Saint-Etienne have signed FC Nantes Atlantique's French Under-21 international forward Dimitri Payet on a four-year contract for a fee of around €4m.

AS Saint-Etienne have signed FC Nantes Atlantique forward Dimitri Payet on a four-year contract for a fee of around €4m.

Long journey
The 20-year-old, who scored four times in 30 games as Nantes were relegated from Ligue 1 last season, said. "Having worn the yellow of Nantes, the green of St-Etienne is another legendary colour for me and it makes me happy," said Payet, who was an academy graduate at Nantes but was born on the French island Réunion in the Indian Ocean – the outermost region of the European Union. He has been capped by France at Under-21 level.
