Levante UD are to sign former Georgia international striker Shota Arveladze, who has passed a medical with the Spanish club and agreed a one-year contract with the option of a further season.
Prolific goalscorer
The 34-year-old, who scored 27 goals in 63 appearances for his country before retiring from international football earlier this year, joins from AZ Alkmaar having had spells at FC Dinamo Tbilisi, Trabzonspor, AFC Ajax and Rangers FC before returning to the Netherlands in 2005. Arveladze scored 14 goals in 27 Eredivisie starts in 2006/07 as AZ were just edged out in the Dutch title race on the final day of the season, and will join Bruno Cirillo, Emilio Viqueira, Sávio, David Castedo, Vladan Kujović and Alexandre Geijo at his new club.
