No joy for Gotz
A goal from Brazilian defender Marcelo Bordon five minutes from the break helped Stuttgart consolidate third place in the 1. Bundesliga standings. Coach Felix Magath's men are 13 points behind runaway leaders FC Bayern München but are level on points with second-placed BV Borussia Dortmund, who have a better goal difference. The result was a bitter disappointment for Falko Gotz in his first game in charge of 1860.
Marx on target
Elsewhere, Hertha BSC Berlin piled on the misery for second-bottom 1. FC Nürnberg with a 3-0 win at the Frankenstadion, which maintained their hopes of European football next term. The home side, thrashed 5-0 at 1. FC Kaiserslautern last weekend, were again out of sorts and had no answer to Hertha's attacking forays. Hertha, who move up to fifth, were 2-0 up at half-time thanks to goals from Michael Preetz and Thorben Marx. Brazilian Marcelinho added the third five minutes from the end.
