FK Khazar Lenkoran have completed the double in Azerbaijan after lifting the Azerbaijani Cup for the first time with a 1-0 win against MKT Araz.
The newly crowned Yuksek Liga champions justified their favourites' tag, although it took a 90th-minute goal from Rashad Kerimov to end the brave resistance of debut finalists Araz.
Kerimov struck with extra time looming, scoring from the edge of the area following a left-wing break from danger man Zaur Ramazanov. Araz's best chance had fallen to Anatol Doros ten minutes before, but Kyamran Agaye made the save. Five days previously, Lenkoran secured the title – the first in their history – with a 3-0 triumph at FK Gilan that kept them two points clear of PFC Neftchi. They will enter the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round, with Araz going into the same stage of the UEFA Cup as cup runners-up.
