Tenth Croatian title in a row for Dinamo

On-loan Chilean striker Ángelo Henríquez scored a hat-trick as GNK Dinamo Zagreb confirmed their tenth successive Croatian title with a 5-1 victory at RNK Split.

With four games left to play, GNK Dinamo Zagreb have been confirmed as Croatian champions for the tenth season in succession, a 5-1 win at RNK Split ensuring that their only remaining challengers, HNK Rijeka, can no longer catch them.

On-loan Chilean forward Ángelo Henríquez scored a hat-trick in Split as his side ended their chase for their 17th national title since independence with a flourish. Their opponents will hope to pose more of a challenge when they meet Dinamo in the Croatian Cup final on 20 May, with the Zagreb club on target to secure a sixth domestic double in the last ten years.

"We didn't think about the title – our goal was to win the match against a tough opponent and to show we are the better team in a dry run for the cup final," said coach Zoran Mamić, whose return to the club in 2005 – first as a player and then as sporting director – heralded Dinamo's current spree of success. "We knew the title would come eventually, and it would be a confirmation of our dominance."

In the previous round of games, Mamić's side set a new national record for longest unbeaten run in domestic matches (league, Croatian Cup and Super Cup); following the victory in Split, Dinamo have now gone 36 domestic games without a loss.
