AGF Århus have completed the free transfer signing of San Jose Earthquakes' former United States Under-21 international Wade Barrett.
The Danish Superliga outfit received a fax today confirming the deal after Barrett had asked for time to think over the move after impressing during a week-long trial. "Now the contract has been signed, we want him to come as soon as possible," said AGF spokesman Frank Heskjaer. "Barrett is one of the expensive boys but AGF have been looking for a left-back for some time now. We took the chance as one of Barrett's class seldom comes along."
Two-and-a-half year deal
Barrett agreed a two-and-a-half year deal, much to the delight of new AGF coach Poul Hansen. "
I'm very happy that AGF and Wade agreed terms," he said. "It gives our game another dimension to have a strong, fast, left-footed player as left back. Wade is strong in the offensive game and can stand on his own in defence if he needs to."
