Zalaegerszegi TE's championship aspirations received a major boost with a 6-1 away win today.
Zalaegerszeg in fine form
Péter Bozsik's side totally overwhelmed hapless Debreceni VSC at the Oláh Gábor stadium. The home team scored the opener in the seventh minute as midfield player Zoltán Böör passed the ball into the net from close range, but Róbert Waltner equalised for Zalaegerszeg in the 15th minute after a wonderful counterattack.
After the break Gábor Egressy took the lead for Zalaegerszeg and as the home side's resistance gradually faded, Lajos Nagy netted twice in three minutes before Krisztián Kenesei and Waltner carved up the Debrecen defence again and scored a goal apiece to complete the rout.
MTK draw a blank
MTK Hungária FC remain top of the table but their lead dropped by two points as they were keld to a 0-0 draw at home by Kispest Honvéd FC. MTK's finishing proved to be below standard on Saturday, but there were no such problems for third-placed Ferencvárosi TC as they secured an emphatic 4-1 win against Videoton FCF at the Üllói úti stadium.
Ferencváros in command
Midfield player Attila Szili opened the scoring in the seventh minute with his first goal for Ferencváros but Tamás Szalai equalised in the 31st minute for Videoton. The home side stepped up a gear in the second half and after Videoton were reduced to ten men, Péter Lipcsei's penalty was followed by goals for Serbian Aleksandar Jovic and an excellent 20-metre volley from Gábor Vén.
2-2 again for Vasas
Bottom team Vasas SC secured their second consecutive 2-2 draw against MFC Sopron. Vasas's Imre Aranyos broke the deadlock in the 27th minute but the first half ended 1-1 thanks to a goal from Sopron's Róbert Horváth. After the break Sopron took the lead as Róbert Bausz took full advantage of a mistake by goalkeeper István Kövesfalvi, but three minutes later Dubravko Zrlic headed home Norbert Tóth's cross to earn Vasas a share of the points.
