Zilina near cup final

Reigning champions MŠK Zilina showed solid form in the first leg of the Slovakian Cup semi-finals.

Reigning champions MŠK Zilina showed solid form in the first leg of the Slovakian Cup semi-finals tonight as they beat ŠK Slovan Bratislava 2-0.

Mintál on song
The Slovakian league's top goalscorer Marek Mintál opened the scoring and Richard Varadin registered his side's second after good work from new signing Martin Fabuš to seal the win.

Púchov held
In the night's other semi-final tie, last season's beaten cup finalists ŠKM Púchov travelled to struggling second division Petrochema Dubová and registered a 2-2 draw.

Bernady save
Púchov were grateful to goalkeeper Tomáš Bernady who saved a Jaroslav Kamenský penalty 14 minutes before the full-time whistle to prevent his side being defeated. The second legs will take place on 15 April.
