Greece round-up: Stalemate in Athens

Panathinaikos FC rescued a draw in their clash with Olympiakos Piraeus FC on Saturday thanks to a double from Emmanuel Olisadebe.

Ethniki Katigoria leaders Olympiakos Piraeus FC were held to a 2-2 draw by great rivals Panathinaikos FC on a wet night in the Greek capital on Saturday.

Fanatical support
In front of over 45,000 fanatical fans, the visitors fought back from a two-goal half-time deficit to sneak a point thanks to a second-half double from Polish international Emmanuel Olisadebe. The game started well for the hosts, Alekos Alexandis connecting with Giovanni's pinpoint cross after 24 minutes to warm the home supporters.

Djordjevic doubles lead
Predrag Djordjevic doubled the lead three minutes before the break with a peach of a free kick and the points looked in the bag for the champions. But the balance of power in this derby match would shift dramatically as time began to run out.

Amanatidis slip
When Polish international Emmanuel Olisadebe pulled a goal back, after Yiorgis Seitaridis had picked up on a slip by Olympiakos defender Yiorgis Amanatidis and rifled in a cross, the hosts began to look edgy.

Kolkka cross
So it proved five minutes later when Olisadebe got on the end of Joonas Kolkka's 77th-minute corner to level the scores. But a winner would not come for either side, leaving Olympiakos level on points at the top with AEK Athens FC, having played a game more.

Gomez on hand
Elsewhere, OFI Crete had Costa Rican striker Ronald Gomez to thank after a 1-0 victory at home to Iraklis FC. Gomez struck after 31 minutes of a tough battle as his side managed to keep out the visitors to move into third place in the table.
