The Brazilian forward Wamberto has left AFC Ajax for struggling Belgian First Division side RAEC Mons.

Relegation fight
Wamberto, whose contract was due to expire at the season's end, is joining a side facing a relegation fight as they sit 16th in the 18-team Belgian top flight. Ajax did not disclose any details of the transfer.

Five seasons
Wamberto, nicknamed 'Wampie' by the Ajax supporters, joined the Amsterdam club in 1998 and made 156 senior appearances during a five-year spell, scoring 36 goals.
