Mourinho to quit Leiria

José Mourinho is to stand down as UD Leiria coach at the end of the season.
José Mourinho has said he will quit as coach of UD Leiria in the summer leaving him open for the top job at SL Benfica should it arise.

Six months notice
He made the announcement as his contract at Leiria demands he gives six months notice before leaving. Benfica appointed Jesualdo Ferreira last week as their coach until the end of the season after the departure of António 'Toni' Oliveira.

Wants to go back
Mourinho has previously expressed a wish to coach Benfica again in his career. The club are fourth in the Portuguese first division and lie five points behind leaders Sporting Clube de Portugal. Leiria are one point behind Benfica in fifth place.
